Oh Therapy
Because my parethesia & neuropathy have worsened and daily get worse and I have no syrinx the thought is therapy may assist in some relief. I do a lot of therapy on my own & gym three times a week - I believe they are going to work principally on my neck and shoulders to relieve tightness in my trapezoids and try to open up my spine to relieve any entrapment or narrowing ... won't know until 09/27 plus I will have nerve conduction study done because my principle issues in my hands and forearms are in the thumb and first three fingers and up the inside of my forearms which is not consistent with my C2/C3 which should be on the outside of the hand and arm or so they say. They want to know (and so do I) why this is so. I am a great patient and willing to do whatever to plateau which is honestly my sole desire now. To plateau
As you told me anything below the injury may be affected ... essentually everything is below C2/C3.
cord is like 12 mm in diameter - I have 4 mm contusion or 1/3 cink (contusion/blockage) in transmission - have been told if any further I would be a quad ... The titanium structure/support protects my cord from further cink.
They descibed it as a fiberoptic cord which has information flowing freely back and forth - take that cord and snap it leaving a dent in it - the information path is compromised - the sound for instance does not flow through as it should affecting the output at the speakers and bring a fuzzy, humming sound ... the damn thing is annoying so you go out and buy a new fiberoptic cord and replace it. Well as you know we can't go out and buy a new one.
Further anyone over 50 has like a zero chance of any repair.
Ok I can deal with all of this and will compensate naturally BUT why the hell does my right hand feel worse than my left one did one year after the surgery? Well do my hands feel so damn numb and cold? Why is this getting worse?
I tend to agree with Dr ????? ... they have been concentrating solely on my injury site and have done an excellent job as as have I at this level/site. There is nothing more that can be done there - its a given and accepted.
But my left hand now is affected through my ring finger, my left thumb useless yet still strong - it feels like my wrist is broken and all of this radiates up into my forearm, on the inside similar to carpal tunnel
I need to know LINDA ... I need to know why and what I can do to at least plateau. I have a lot of life to live. I am over three years post injury and discharge from **** but I feel worse than when I was discharged at least five times over worser (not a word but is effective). Not bitching - just WANT TO KNOW!!!! :)
My reply
That's probably just the way you're wired. My injury is mainly 6, I was tricky because I showed 7/8 involvement....just the way I was wired. I also rewired after the fracturing...so...that said, take nerve maps with a grain of salt. Btw that came from my massage therapist, chiropractor, and neurosurgeon...the only one to argue it was the toadstool PA who nearly cost me most of my function
